origins

our story begins on the tidal shores of Mont Saint-Michel, in Normandy, France. 

In 708 AD, a sanctuary dedicated to Saint Michael was founded on this mystical tidal island. Benedictine monks established the abbey in 966, beginning centuries of construction that shaped the extraordinary Mont-Saint-Michel we know today.

Along its shores, tiny scallop shells echo the ancient symbol of pilgrimage. Our signature crest draws inspiration from those shells, placing the scallop within a medieval heater shield—a symbol of journey, resilience, and protection.

Did you know… there’s a hidden meaning within the design?  The single shell base with nine radiating ribs subtly reflects the number XIX (19).
